- Uncovered important relationships between "native" brain states of conscious awareness
and how the brain perceives and processes internally and externally produced stimuli, 1984 - 1991.
- Developed software and computer algorithms to analyze damage to the brain and to assess brain development
from magnetic resonance scans (MRI), 1990 - present (patent awarded 1995).
- Directorship of the Neurosignal Analysis Laboratory (NAL), 1990 - present.
- Co-developer of a new scientific discipline known as Computational Biomedicine (CBM), 1999.
- Continuous brain research funding from the National Institutes of Health since 1989.
