An Open Letter to Our "Bleeper" Friends

Now that we have transitioned into 2005, I wanted to thank each one of you who has attended or listened to one or more of the presentation/discussion sessions I have hosted on "What The BLEEP Do We Know?" or has checked out our Bleeper webpage. I have thoroughly enjoyed, and have been honored to meet and interact with each one of you.

Our last meeting in Houston was well attended and the discussion once again, was outstanding. I thank all those who participated. I provided a two-page handout there, with some thoughts about these gatherings and where they might lead. Your ideas, comments and offers to assist these efforts in any way will be appreciated (feel free to contact us). As the movie run is now ended in the US and the DVD is out we have entered a new phase of our group's existence.

It may be no small surprise to realize that the major work done by us in these meetings over the last few months did not reside in any specific words spoken by you or me, or in the thoughts and ideas expressed, but rather in the process of all of us coming together as a group for those few evenings and sharing our energy, our good will, and our hopes for the future using the film as a basis (excuse?!). I suspect that it was no random event(s) that led you to attend a meeting or this website, or that led me to host them, but rather, an important shared purpose and possibly a shared mission.

I also believe that these meetings caused a definite shift in the field of consciousness - in other words, they could have potentially changed our collective future course in profound ways! That in itself is one message I believe the film was trying to convey. I have given much thought to all this over the past months and I hope you will give some more thought as to what that shared purpose and mission might be from your own perspective.

Some of you have asked me why I have gone "to the trouble" to hold these meetings, for although it has been a labor of love, Lord knows I've got plenty on my plate to keep me occupied as I know most of you do.

I could make the "unscientific" but probably no less true statement that this movie called out to me when I first saw it back in April at the Worldfest Houston. In truth, I was inspired and charged on many levels - and I know that many of you were similarly. One example of how, which I have not touched on so far in any meeting, was the way in which the film used basketball as a metaphor for transformation. This is very personal to me.

I grew up having a love affair with the sport. My love for the game could never be explained in simple terms or for the usual reasons that most boys played basketball. It would take several pages to even begin to give voice to this - except to say that it was very much integrated within my life and many life lessons. I started playing the game at the "old" age of 11 years. It did not come easily to me, in fact for years my friends considered me so horrible at the game that I was always the last boy chosen on a team, mostly out of compassion so I wouldn't feel bad sitting on the sidelines. I went on however to play college varsity ball at 17 in New York City and stopped playing it competitively at age 40, three years AFTER losing over 80% of the motor functioning in my dominant (shooting) arm due to a severely herniated disc (and 2 other herniated discs) in my cervical (neck) spine.

The injuries presented themselves in October 1992 while away on a weekend business trip. When I arrived home I could not hold my right arm up at all, I could not even lift a coffee cup to my lips. My right arm basically no longer functioned. My son was an infant and my two worst fears were that I would not ever be able to play catch with him and that my basketball playing days were now over. Little did I realize at the time that this event was to start me on a whole new journey, a "spiritual science" one, in quest of self and more!

Although I worked professionally with neurologist-scientists in the Texas Medical Center, I refused much needed surgery (according to them) and instead during that three year period I was in almost constant rehabilitation in physical therapy and chiropractic care. Allopathic medicine offered me little in the way of hope to recover lost function. The docs were very concerned that I would lose the use of my arm completely and worse, that my risk of quadriplegia was now substantially higher than before.

One year later with about 50% improvement in function, I resumed playing competitive basketball and made a two-year comeback. Although my risk of paralysis from the neck down was greatly increased (for example if I got shoved in the back, or hit in the neck region, not uncommon in competitive basketball) I could not give up doing something that was such an intrinsic part of me all those years, of my very spirit. Finally, I stopped playing competitively because the risk to my family just became too great.

Thus, to see how the Bleep film makers blended basketball into the story was incredibly pertinent and meaningful for me. That was just one of the levels in which the film was amazing and deeply personal.

Another level was how the film brought together the science, philosophy, theology, and spirituality into such a uniquely nifty confluence. It very much paralleled how these various areas came together in my own life, during my 35-year journey of studying physics, philosophy, religion, and biomedical engineering, then later becoming a tenured medical (brain/mind) research professor followed by a facilitator and teacher of Kabbalistic healing (a process I am writing about and hope to publish in book form soon).

I would like to continue sharing with you what I've learned about the merging of science, consciousness, Kabbalah and healing. As some of you know I offer workshops that range across all these areas and teach folks what I do as a facilitator of Kabbalistic healing - a very powerful set of tools that can actualize one's body/mind/spirit growth and personal evolvement.

We have now had our first intro-level weekend workshop in which I taught these principles and techniques. More are being planned. Participants will receive certificates of completion. Please let me know if you would be interested in participating. Also, I invite you to experience this form of healing work for yourself - very easy to do - contact me to set up an appointment anytime - it is something that has to be personally experienced to be understood and is well-worth the cost. Even if you are an experienced healer or have had many other forms of healing work yourself, I challenge you to do an "experiment" and observe why this is different.

After seeing the film that first time back in April, Will Arntz was present to accept the award for Best Documentary and held a discussion in the theater parking lot. Much was discussed but the most prominent idea that flashed in my mind was that this was a fantastic start, but a start to what? The next thing that flashed in my mind was an answer, which was "to figure out how to harness this information" - to show how to actually use the information discussed in the film to help people, put simply.

That is, the movie represented a kind of "call to arms" of how do we best use the information that it is trying to impart to assist others? What is the purpose of that information and what do we DO with it? I suggested to Will that his next project might be about the manifesters, those individuals and groups who are actually (miraculously perhaps) applying the principles discussed in the film to help/assist others. To help others do what? To HEAL, GROW, and EVOLVE on all levels, to awaken to their true identities and reasons for being here in embodied form. And what would be the reason for doing that? To assist the growth and evolvement of humanity as a whole!

This last word "whole" is important. Oneness. Is that what is happening to humanity? Are we indeed collectively moving toward wholeness? Why and what is this wholeness about? Is it the Source of all that is to begin with, as the new agers and many religious and spiritual traditions have long been telling us? That indeed was my deep sense of what this movie was trying to convey. I heard a message, a call - eventually leading me to hold the first discussion meeting back in October, not knowing if a single person would show up, or 100.

Thankfully you did. Perhaps you heard a similar call to mine with this movie. Or perhaps you heard a slightly different call - a kind of a wakeup call. A call that said "wipe the sleep from your eyes and gaze on your true Home - this is where you come from, your birthplace!" If you heard this or something similar, then you also know that you cannot/must not keep this information-revelation to yourself. This must be shared with others, by its very nature.

You know that there are many others out there waiting to be similarly awakened from their own slumbers so that they too can experience that they are indeed Home once again - with all that returning Home implies: the protection, the security, and the presence (presents!) of the Loving Family there for you and for every soul on this planet - always and forever! Perhaps they are waiting for one of you to awaken them!

If what I've expressed here resonates with you then I invite you to remain/become a part of a group that will explore these messages further and expand them outward by its very presence and being. It will be your group. Ultimately it will be what you make it - what you wish, intend and desire for it to be. It doesn't matter that there are other Bleeper" groups out there. This one can be unique simply because it is ours!

One way that you can share the messages of Home that I believe the movie conveys is to send THIS particular message to others you might know who are still slumbering and who may have a specific appointment with receiving it! Let them know that there is a little Texas grass roots effort here to advance the information and some of the film's messages for purposes of "evolving" ourselves individually, collectively and worldly!

Such efforts start with one person - you - and grow when you pass the word to a few others, they then pass it to a few others, on and on. Please tell them about our meetings and invite them to join you sometime - they will be most welcome because it will be a place that will feel a lot like Home!

We set up a Yahoo discussion forum, called "New Consciousness" (accessible from our Bleep page) so that all may meet in cyberspace and discuss any ideas touched upon in the meetings thus far and these messages. Also the audio from our discussions are posted on the webpage. Please check our Events Calendar for information on the next gathering/seminar. If anyone would like to assist us with the planning of these, please let us know - thanks.

May 2005 be the best year of our lives thus far!

Many blessings,

Michael
